  We had a really lovely meal last night. Our original reservations fell through at another restaurant and Hys took us immediately. Our server was lovely and the food is just amazing. The cesar salad is to die for, cheesy toast as well. The calamari is SO good!! Really, ALL the food is amazing. So well done. The only reason I am doing 4 instead of 5 stars is because the timing of our food was poor. Maybe because it's off season. We had to wait a while for the mains, the sides didn't come until a while after the mains came out and one of the sides didn't come at all. All in all though, a really lovely night out with good friends.

  One of our good friends was getting married and we decided to go for dinner at Hy's Steak house in whistler. We had booked a table for a large group about two weeks prior to our reservation date. There was about 12 of us in the group that sat down for dinner on March 25th 2017. Our reservation time was at 7:45 p.m, we arrived there at about 7:30. Our group sat down had some drinks ordered some appetizers and at around 8:30 we placed our dinner order. At around 9:30 we were told our food would be out shortly. After another half hour goes by our food has still not come out. Our waiter began avoiding us because we were asking why it was taking so long. A manager came out and told us again that the food was on the way out and were advised since some members of the group ordered medium well steaks that it would take longer for the cook time. Usually a medium well steak would take an extra 5 minutes maximum. Finally after another 30 minutes our food slowly started coming out. The steaks that were ordered medium well came out well done, others in the group enjoyed their meal but the bottom line is if you cannot accommodate a large group you should not say yes to booking a large size. If we had known it would have taken over 2 hours for our dinner to come out we would have not booked our reservation at Hy's. Our bill was also in the $1200.00+ range, for a premium steak house I would have expected much better service especially when we are spending that type of money. Usually you would expect Management to make the situation better in some way, what we got was them offering to cover our two appetizers totalling 50 dollars. I will not be going back to Hy's again.

  Good quality food and amazing service. Their Caesar salads are great, as well as the classic french onion soup and calamari. Steaks. Great quality and service. Even when I had a misfire of a medium steak instead of my rare, they were quick to fixing and serving the food. I would have gotten a dessert, but was way too full. I would highly suggest this place for that romantic dinner spot or a place to splurge, while at Whistler
